March Meeting by Anastasia

At our March meeting, we started by talking about how you're stronger with people you care about than you are alone.  We did this by using craft sticks, showing that they are harder to break together than alone.

Then we had snack. We had pop chips and clementines.  Stella brought homemade cookies!

Then we went to the pre-k yard to have an exercise class!

Later, we learned how to use  epi-pens with Magali's mom. We learned about them for our first aid badge.  Six people got to use a real epi-pen[expired] on an orange and everyone else used a tester.

Then finally, we did the friendship circle. It was a meeting filled with fun activities! Thank you Martha and Michelle!!!!!!

The Firehouse Field Trip by Magali

I thought the fire house field trip was really fun! I was SO happy when we got to go into the fire truck.

It was also cool when we got to watch one of the firefighters slide down their pole! We learned about what they do while we were there.

The firefighters taught us how to help people if they have really bad wounds and are really injured, and what to do if you see a person like this.

One thing I wished I could have done is, slide down the pole, and actually ride in the fire truck!
Have a great break!

February Meeting By Sara

In our last girl scouts meeting we started to earn our First Aid Badge. For snack we ate string cheese, carrots, and grapes.

To earn our badge, we made posters to convince people to learn first aid.

Then we learned how to clean cuts.

First, clean the cut with water or alcohol wipes.

Then add Neosporin.
Finally, put on a band aid.

Then the last thing we did was make a First Aid kit with…
*Large-non stick pad
*Small-non stick pad
*3 little packets of Neosporin
*3 sport strip band aids
*12 tough strip band aid
*3 tough strip waterproof band aid
*3 flexible fabric XL band aid
*31 flexible fabric band aid
* Latex gloves
*Wipes

That is what is in the kit.

That was our meeting.
I liked making the First Aid kit.

Sincerely,
Sara

Selling Cookies by Taylor

This Girl Scout meeting was awesome. But what I love the most was selling cookies. This year was my first year and I sold 205 boxes. Other girls scouts sold 400 boxes. This is my first time in Girl Scouts and the first time selling cookies and it rocked! I'm  selling cookies to help the troop and meeting new people at the same time. It is a great experience. I didn't go door to door but I did email family members, wrote notes to my mom's friends at work and sold cookies to the downstairs neighbors. Two of my dad's restaurant friends together bought more than 70 boxes! I learned that people really love Girl Scout cookies. But what I can't wait for is getting the cookies for my favorite friends.

December Recap by Lindsay

Today, in our Girl Scout meeting we were earning our simple meals badge. At our homes, we had to make breakfast for our families without any help. For my family, I made pancakes from scratch. Then, we also had to make a dessert for our cookie swap that we would be doing in our meeting. I made blondies with chocolate chips.

The first thing we did was go to Nightingale 9. We met the sous chef Morgan and she showed us all of their restaurants including Seersucker and Smith Canteen (where we got delicious hot apple cider). Morgan and Kristen (who runs the businesses) showed us all three kitchens and told us all the different kitchen supplies.

Then, we went back to Nightingale 9 and cooked a Vietnamese meal that had rice, pesto, an egg (either fried or scrambled), lettuce, carrots, radish, and pork hair.

After we ate our delicious meals, we went back to Seersucker and did a cookie swap. We got stuff like cookies, brownies, blondies, and muffins. I received great chocolate cookies. Then we all got picked up and headed home after our fun and delicious meeting.

November Meeting Summary by Stella

Last month in Girl Scouts we made paper! First you blend paper bits in the blender with water. Then you put the paper in the screen and let it dry. This is an easy and fun craft and it is great to recycle! It's your part to help the earth… RECYCLE!

Its COOKIE time again! So sell sell sell, you can get an iPad! Try all the cookies and pick a favorite.  Don't forget about operation cookie, buy cookies and girl scouts will send them to troops overseas! We get .65 cents per box so start thinking about trips we can take.

Looking forward to next meeting and the cookie swap!

October Meeting Summary by Jacqueline T.

In Troop 2440’s second meeting...

We started off by making snack towards our simple meals badge. We made Sushi rolls!!!
All you need is bread, butter (if you want), your favorite cold cuts, lettuce and shredded  carrots (if you want). Then you roll and you have a sushi roll.

After that, we played a version of Old Maid. We had to make a meal.  We had to have grain, meat, and vegetables. But watch out, you don’t want to get stuck with the Old Maid (candy!!). At the end of the round we showed our meals and we saw who had the best meal and the not so good meal.

Then at the end, we made our friendship circle, by holding hands and closing our eyes and thinking of something good or something we liked today. That was the end of troop 2440 girl scouts meeting.
